Kyotaro didn’t think his cunning plan for New Year’s all the way through. Anna showed up early and now his sister is trying to be his wingwoman.


Our Take

Due to Anna’s early arrival, Kyotaro finds himself at the shrine with her, Kana, and his parents. His broken arm prevents him from clapping during prayers, prompting Anna to assist using her hand, much to Kyotaro’s flustered state. Kana extends an invitation to Anna to their house, where Kyotaro’s childhood photos become the topic of discussion. While perusing the pictures, Anna observes Kyotaro with two friends, leading to a revelation that they had left for different private middle schools, leaving Kyotaro embittered.

After Kana leaves them alone, Anna expresses gratitude for being Kyotaro’s friend and insists on seeing more photos. A moment of panic arises when she stumbles upon a magazine featuring her pictures, causing Kyotaro to leap to hide it and accidentally land on top of her. Despite the awkwardness, Anna remains unfazed, taking copies of Kyotaro’s photos and promising to show hers next time. The next day at school, compelled by his newfound enjoyment of school with Anna, Kyotaro shares his feelings with her, leading to a heartfelt moment…

Overall, the season finale encapsulated Kyotaro’s endearing development, from an edge lord teen to someone awkward yet kind. The narrative also blindsided me as it further delved into Kyotaro’s semi-tragic past. As the connection between the two leads has now deepened, showcasing their bond. But with the recent announcement of Season 2, it remains to be seen what direction this could take next!
