English Dub Review: A Returner’s Magic Should Be Special “Rapier”
Overview
Desir and Pram attempt to get Pram’s rapier back from the man he sold it to and uncover hidden secrets in the process.
Our Take
After hearing what Pram did to his sword recently, he ends up bringing Desir to the shop where he sold his rapier to buy it back, with the price being “forty silver coins” for it after Pram sold it for three silver coins which kinda shows you how greasy this merchant really is. When Desir buys the thing, he uses his magic to figure out figure out how to unsheathe it, and gives it to Pram to unsheathe it himself as he learned the true nature of this sword being that it’s made of blancium, a rare metal that is powerful yet lightweight. Despite already agreeing to sell the sword, the shop owner demands Pram return the rapier.
In response to this, Pram fights the shop’s bodyguard in a duel. At first, he gets a bit of a sloppy start, but begins to quickly react and use his speed to knock the bodyguard out and get out of the shop. Meanwhile, Romantica completes the training exercise, and later has dinner with Doneta. Politely rejecting his offer to join, while telling him that she was once a commoner. She then leaves with a warning for Doneta in her own words not to fuck with commoners, with Doneta reacting angrily as it’s revealed that his father had an implied fucked up past involving them…
Overall, while this was a decent episode, part of me feels like it would’ve been much shorter if the two just left the merchant and went to a different location to examine the sword thereby preventing any further trouble with those greedy jerks, but then we wouldn’t get a fight scene with Pram displaying his Rapier skills. As for the separate subplot with Romantica and that douche Doneta, It felt like they were trying to humanize the antagonist in some way, but it’s hard to feel bad if we don’t know the whole story. As for the post-credits scene, It must be a big deal for them to partake in the tournament if it means they can bring a message of hope to the commoner class to excel, but that remains to be seen…
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
