English Dub Season Review: Am I Actually the Strongest? Season One
Overview:
A shut-in is reborn into another world with the promise of a peaceful life. Although born into royalty, because his magic appeared to be weak, his parents abandoned him without a thought in the forest to be devoured by monsters. However, his magic is actually inhumanly strong. Just what will he have to do to attain the peaceful life he so desires?
Our Take:
You know they say that the opposite of love isn’t hate but indifference. So, I would almost argue that the worst thing you can say about an anime is that it’s forgettable. There was only one character that I can see myself remembering (Shout out to Iris) and even she wasn’t introduced until the end of the season.
I love isekai as much as the next guy and whenever I get the chance to cover a new one I jump at the chance. I wanted to like this one but it was just way too generic and bland. Not only that but when Haruto dons his “Black Knight” persona it looks way too much like Lelouch from Code Geass. As someone who counts that series as one of their favorites, I can’t help but dislike that part. I’m sure it’s used as a homage but it’s still annoying every time he’s on screen.
Just like the story, the animation is generic and bland. Some of the fights were fun to watch but after a while they got old. Some of the voice cast did an okay job but for the most part, I blame the subject matter on being uninteresting not their performances.
This series started interesting because who doesn’t want to see a sexy fox monster lady try to bang a baby? But it was all downhill from there as it never got interesting for me. Not only that but it committed one of my least favorite anime sins. There was no ending and it was clear this was just advertising the source material.
You could watch something a whole lot worse but at the same time, you could find something a lot better. I even ranked my top isekai on this very website if you are interested in finding something in that genre. Ultimately, the worst thing I can say about a series is that it was forgettable and I have a feeling that this time next year I won’t even remember Am I Actually the Strongest?

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
