English Dub Review: Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End “The Hero of the Village”
Overview:
Frieren and Fern enlist Stark’s help to fight the solar dragon – but is he up to the task?
Our Take:
I’m so glad I get to cover this anime because it has the makings to be one of the greatest. Not only is it telling a moving story but the animation is an absolute treat. The fight between Stark and the solar dragon was one of the best fight scenes I’ve seen animated in a really long time. It reminded me of some of the best shonen fight scenes out there in Dragonball Super and My Hero Academia. When you have great animation to go along with great characters and interesting story beats you got a recipe for success.
I love the potential party dynamics at play with Frieren, Fern, and Stark. With Stark and Fern being human it makes things even more interesting for Frieren. Being an elf, Frieren is in no hurry, but unfortunately for the humans in the group, no hurry could mean two or three years. This created a bonding experience between Fern and Stark and I can’t wait to see how it progresses.
I also review the second season of Goblin Slayer and I bring it up because I want to give a shoutout to Mallorie Rodak. She does the voice of Frieren and High Elf Archer in Goblin Slayer. I don’t see her mentioned often but I love any role she’s done and I was excited to hear she got the lead in this series. I always like to bring attention to VAs whenever I can.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
