English Dub Review: Am I Actually the Strongest? “I Got Myself Mixed Up with so Many People…”

Overview:

Haruto must finally face what he’s been dreading for so long: his first day of classes. While he would love nothing more than to get unceremoniously kicked out of school, Haruto only ends up earning some unwanted scrutiny from a new teacher!

Our Take:

Haruto fell into the classic blunder that a lot of anime protagonists fall into. That is thinking that you are just a normal person going about a normal life. He thought that the questions his sister Char gave him were just easy ones meant to make him feel good. Turns out that Char is a genius and Haruto’s hopes of skating by at school were dashed on the first day as he got an instant promotion to A-Class.

On the bright side going to A-Class means that Haruto gets to be in the same class as Iris. Anime 101 has taught me that it’s never a bad idea to be in the same class as the best girl. Iris is one of the few things I can say is memorable about this series that I enjoy. Haruto has the ability to make a copy of himself and uses it often with his “Black Knight” alter ego and I forget about it all the time. It’s one of the few cop outs in this series that actually bugs me. I think there’s one episode left and I don’t see it becoming something I truly love after that.
