Review: Rick and Morty: Heart of Rickness #2
Overview
Rick and the kids escaped the death pit but disagree on their next move. Why run back to the comfort of civilization, cell phones, and TV when you can stay on the random barbarian planet and fight with an alternate version of yourself to prove who’s the biggest and baddest? On the spa planet, Beth and Jerry hunt for nachos but instead discover the seedy truth behind their relaxing vacation.
Our Take
Of all of the Oni Press comic series, it appears Heart of Rickness is the most -like the classic animated sitcom. Priscilla Tramontano’s art-style is as close to the show as you’re going to get it and Michael Moreci’s dialogue feels most like what the show’s writing staff would come up with, especially in terms of vernacular and the back-and-forth between Rick and Morty which really jumps off the page and is increasingly becoming obvious as to the intent of making it close.
Oni has a pretty busy Fall 2023 with a bunch more of Rick and Morty comics, but for my money, Heart of the Rickness is the cream of the crop and is now officially half-way over.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
