English Dub Review: Mashle: Magic and Muscles “Mash Burnedead and the Wolves of Magic”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
After Mash and Lance defeat Olore and Anser of the Magia Lupus, Abyss appears before them to collect his comrades, leaving behind a disturbing atmosphere. Mash discusses the future with Lance while baking cream puffs when Lemon rushes in. It seems that Tom has temporarily lost his ability to use magic. That night, while Mash and his friends explore the school to unravel the mystery, they discover a strange-looking Lemon…
Our Take:
Mash and Lance have gained their first victory over the mysterious Magia Lupus, but they also lost their gold coin, thanks to Abyss and his super speed. That alone is enough for Lance to decide to strike Lang at their dorm. However, the locations of the dorms are hidden in secret, so finding the Lang dorm may be more challenging than it sounds.
If that’s not enough, Mash and the others also discover that Tom and the other students are drained of their magic after having nightmares, resulting in Lance believing that Magia Lupus is responsible. Before they patrol the school, Lemon gives Mash a cream puff plush toy as a lucky charm, emphasizing their “relationship”. Lemon may be gullible regarding her undeniable love for Mash, but her heart’s in the right place when it comes to protecting her friends.
Their overnight school patrol leads Mash, Lance, Dot, and Finn to rescue Lemon after she’s turned into a doll by Abel. Even though Lemon promised Mash not to do anything reckless, Mash wasn’t going to sit by and let his friend be taken. Their mission resulted in them finding an underground dueling arena, where they face Lang student Shuen Getsuku, who challenges Dot to a duel. Dot eventually won the thrilling battle with his exploding bomb magic, but not before he and the others got separated by Shuen’s spell.
Now separated, Lance winds up battling Third Fang Wirth, while Finn and Dot confront Fifth Fang Love and Fourth Fang Milo. As for Mash, he reunites with Abyss Razor, who’s responsible for killing a student at the beginning of the episode. However, Abyss quickly sympathizes with Mash before the fight, as he, too, was despised by the magic society due to his ability to negate spells.
Amid this struggle, we also learned from Wahlberg’s meeting with the Bureau of Magic that the six prisoners on death row escaped with the help of Innocence-Zero. Who or what is this “Innocence-Zero” they mentioned, and does it have anything to do with the Magia Lupus’s ultimate plan? Those questions would hopefully be answered as the battle between Team Adler and the Magia Lupus begins.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
