English Dub Review: Bungo Stray Dogs “At the Port in the Sky (Part 2)”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
Fukuchi’s plans and the Agency’s attempts to thwart him escalate, and Aya comes face to face with Count Bram. Meanwhile, Nikolai and Sigma move to rescue Dazai and Fyodor from prison, but Nikolai has more than rescue on his mind…
Our Take:
The season’s three-parter continues with Aya capturing evidence of Fukuchi’s devious ways and barely escaping with her life. Additionally, the Agency faked a terrorist explosion to delay the delivery from the European military escort. However, that doesn’t mean Fukuchi’s plan went off the rails immediately, as he’s able to retrieve the One Order from Eye Patch and his co-pilot. But the One Order has been sealed by Dazai, who’s been imprisoned with Fyodor since season four. It’s nice that these two are still enjoying each other’s company while the rest of the characters deal with a vampire outbreak.
Fortunately, their stay in the prison is about to be cut short, as they’re finally being rescued, but not by the good guys. Instead, we have Nikolai and Sigma doing the rescuing, but with a price. The Decay of Angels member decided to pit the two roommates against each other by having them commit a prison break and inject themselves with a deadly substance. The substance can only be cured by Nikolai, so the two would have to give it their all if one of them wants to escape alive.
During these intense confrontations, the episode provides a humorous moment involving Aya and her new partner near the end. She attempts to convince Bram to help her stop the vampire invasion. Bram eventually accepts after hearing Aya’s determination to help others, but on one condition. The vampire wants to listen to music, including the show’s ending theme song, “Kiseki”, performed by Luck Life. Who knew the king of the undead has taste in music?
With the climactic second chapter of the season’s airport event, it’s unsurprising that things are heating up for these characters. We got Aya and Bram attempting to escape from the vampire army led by Fukuchi and a friendly challenge between two prison roommates with a deadly catch. This is all while the Detective Agency members get caught in the middle. While not as thrilling as part one, it’s enjoyable enough to set up the three-parter’s intense conclusion next week.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
