English Dub Review: Am I Actually the Strongest? “I Flip My Lid”

Overview:

Haruto continues to fight villains by night in costume for Charlotte’s entertainment. One night, he stumbles upon a group of magicians, but he soon finds that their presence is just the beginning of a much greater, darker conspiracy…

Our Take:

This show is still fun but man this episode was tough to get through. To be fair I was really tired after a long day but I had a hard time staying awake. There were some interesting bits but once again Haruto was doing his best Lelouch impression. I guess that is just a thing in Japan now which I don’t blame them for, Code Geass might be the best anime I’ve ever seen from an objective standpoint so why not emulate its main character?

There is hope however because a conspiracy seems to be coming to light. Haruto’s birth mother is seemingly the one behind a plot to assassinate Char. What made it even more interesting was when Gold told Haruto the story of how his mother and father got married. His mother, Gizelotte, slayed the demon king and was loved by the people. This story intrigued me because she seemed like such a nice and kind woman so something had to happen to get things to where they are. I hope that is something we come to find out soon.
