English Dub Review: Masamune-kun’s Revenge R “They Show Up When You Least Expect It”

Gasou tries to get closer to Aki, and Masamune confronts Yoshino about something.

Our Take:

This was the point in the manga when things really start to take off if I remember correctly. Masamune finally puts the pieces together and realizes that it wasn’t Aki that called him “Pig’s Foot” but it was Yoshino. Why would she do that? Was she jealous of Aki, or was she also in love with Masamune? What doe this mean for Masamune’s revenge? Will he switch focus to Yoshino or drop it entirely? I think it’s all going to be really interesting from here on out because it seems like he has legitimate feelings for Aki now and even if the revenge plan had remained unchanged it could have created some interesting conflict.

It does remind me that this also has one of the most annoying parts of the series for me. I absolutely hate Gasou pretending to be Masamune to get to Aki’s money. Their motivations are understandable and I get it but with Gasou also being female it’s just a weird plotline. I’m really excited for next week’s episode to see what Masamune does. This is one of my favorite series and I’m glad it’s getting a continuation and hopefully finish.
