English Dub Review: Vinland Saga: “The King of Rebellion”
Overview: Thorfinn (Mike Haimoto) weathers the storm of blows in a bet with Canute’s (Jessie James Grelle) forces to speak with him and end the war peacefully.
Our Take: Thorfinn’s sheer endurance is a sight to behold, especially with his face being pounded into meatloaf. It is amazing to see how far his compassion has furthered his convictions for the better. The respect he earns from the king’s guard is awe-inspiring in the merciful way he handles unnecessary conflict.
Canute’s confrontation with Thorfinn is a startling showcase of two very different paths these characters have taken. Canute is unrelenting in his siege and conquest of Ketil’s farm, clashing with Thorfinn’s kindness. Einar plays a key role voicing his grievances, showing how tragedy has shaped his hatred for patriarchy and Canute, overall.
Canute’s ego and ambition reaching divine proportions demonstrates the uphill battle Thorfinn and Einar have ahead of them. It would be nice if the episode featured the full conclusion of their debate for pacing sake, however. Nonetheless, it leaves in a meaningful place moving into the next episode. How Thorfinn gets through to his lack of understanding for those displaced by the war will hopefully provide a strong emotional payoff.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
