English Dub Review: The Ancient Magus’ Bride “Slow and sure. II”

Overview:

An otherwise educational and relaxing camping trip with her classmates ends with a terrifying encounter in the shadows of the night forest, forcing Chise to rely on her own wits and abilities instead of Elias’ magic.

Our Take:

I was really looking forward to this camping trip and I have to say that it didn’t disappoint. To be perfectly honest, as far as bad things that could have happened there were a lot worse things that could have gone wrong. Sure, a pretty horse that likes to drown people that get close to it isn’t exactly ideal but I kind of look at this universe the same way I look at Harry Potter something way worse could kill you, and usually in a more horrific way.

Elias managed to come along in some sort of weaker form so that Chise wouldn’t have to feel like he could bail her out because he would be too weak to help. The problem with that was there was something actually life-threatening happening but on the bright side, Chise showed her mettle and stepped up. I know the whimsy and comfort is something I have been saying I love about this anime but I have to say that the creepy action parts are starting to grow on me as well.
