Review: HouseBroken “Who’s A Homeowner?”
Overview
Honey and Chief become status-obsessed when Jill buys them a fancy new dog mansion; Chico is reunited with his former owner who has a dark secret; Tabitha loses her fur, but possibly finds new love.
Our Take
A classic premise featuring the protagonist attempting to make themselves better only to learn that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side. Quite frankly, HouseBroken really is one of the cutest series on television. I mean, how can you NOT ga-ga over puppies and kitties and other furries? I like that FOX is giving the series SOME leash of life here by surrounding the series with other premieres instead of letting the franchise fester by itself with a bunch of reruns.
In any case, the return episode of HouseBroken is a welcome sight to see. A killer beer chaser after getting the straight shot of ridiculousness that is Family Guy. I love the fact that HouseBroken just randomly introduces characters on an almost weekly basis that just mosey on in from anywhere. It gives the series a revolving door of characters that really could be endless. The downside, is recognizing any of them when they come around, but maybe that means the producers have to constantly come up with new characters rather than just rehash old ones. I’m not expecting to see Tabitha’s new love interest return anytime soon, and the bunnies even less so, but then we get to see wolves and bobcats and whatever the hell else is out there.
The revolving door makes HouseBroken constantly fresh, even if sometimes premises have been done before, the characters are so limitless the climaxes can be wildly different. Not to mention that the show’s basic cast is rather large already, the additional characters coming in from the woods, the streets, the neighboring homes, etc., makes for a “who will we see this week?” level of wonder that I don’t know if anyone else does as well right now.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
