English Dub Review: Urusei Yatsura “The Great Off-Campus Snack Battle / A Gift From Ten!”

Overview:

The girls in class aren’t the only snacks Ataru has his eye on. When teachers crack down on off-campus snacking, a no-holds-barred snack battle begins!

Our Take:

The one positive thing I can say is that after being emotionally drained from the first episode of Oshi no Ko this definitely provided some levity. But that shouldn’t be the only good thing I can say about a show.

The first half was kind of nice because, for the most part, it was a “serious” arc about students trying to win back their snack time. Ataru took everything seriously for the most part and only hit on one random girl during the arc. It’s sad that that is the case but hey we will take small victories where we can get them.

In the second half of the episode, I got what I’ve come to expect from Urusei Yatsura unfortunately. Ten orders an item that shows everyone who they’re destined to marry and suffice it to say there were some odd pairings. They’d be interesting to see but not necessarily in anyone’s best interest. Ten later finds out that there was a mix-up with the order and he actually got an item that shows you who you should AVOID marrying but for some reason decides to not tell anyone this. That’s Urusei Yatsura for you.
