English Dub Review: Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury “Cycle of Sin”

Overview:

The school is in chaos as a result of the Open Campus incident. The Benerit Group’s coverup of the incident and its aggressive security operations on Earth have been reported to the public, and it decides to hold an election to turn the situation around.

Our Take(Spoilers):

So Suletta looks just enough like Eri that we’ve always just assumed that she was the same little girl from the prologue. Turns out we were wrong, so terribly wrong. Eri IS Aerial, now I’m still not quite sure what that means exactly but I do know that it’s messed up. Somehow she is the operating system inside the Gundam. But that does come with some benefits I suppose because when someone tries to steal Aerial it’s got a creepy ghost-girl security system.

I think we are starting to lean into Yuri territory which could be really awesome because it’s not being played up like a big deal. It just is what it is which is honestly, refreshing. Unfortunately, with the Mobile Suit Gundam series being what it is then I imagine Yuri and romance fans alike will be disappointed. You see this series almost always has depressing endings. I hope that won’t be the case here but I’m not going to get my hopes up for a happy ending with Suletta and Miorine.
