English Dub Review: Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear “Bear, Seeking Mithril”

Overview:

Fina discovers that her current iron knife can’t cut through the tough fur of the black tiger and Yuna takes her to get a more substantial replacement. However, Yuna finds out about the existence of mithril at the blacksmith’s and begins a quest to obtain it!

Our Take:

This show is really starting to grow on me because it’s just fun. You don’t really have to think about much and maybe this episode just caught me at the right time. I’m playing the new Legend of Zelda game and it really leans into the whole “adventurer” angle and is a lot of fun to watch. I’ll be honest that is partially because it just made the itch to play even bigger but it was still fun to see how having a “video game” mindset serves to help Yuna in this world.

I have to say I love Yuna and Fina’s relationship. Fina just wants to keep helping Yuna but not do anything too crazy. Meanwhile, Yuna heard that Mithril was on the table and gets a one-track mind on obtaining it. I understand, in any fantasy setting Mithril is always an awesome mineral to have but I hope she starts listening to Fina. At the very least, the journey looks like it will be fun.
