English Dub Review: The Reincarnation Of The Strongest Exorcist In Another World “The Most Terrible Demon King”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
Seika unleashes his power against a group of demon assassins.
Our Take:
The demonic team led by Zor sure did pick the worst time to invade Lodonea, which is unsurprising considering that they’re…well, demons. The reason is that the academy is welcoming the next first-year students, and the principal elects Seika as Student Representative to help greet the new attendants. Amid this promotion, we see Seika come to a decision to face his fear of drawing attention and be more open to those around him.
But, of course, this occurs before Zor and his demonic squad arrive at the academy to find and kill Amu. Unfortunately, their mission quickly winds up being a failure, thanks to Seika’s tremendous exorcist abilities, as Zor predicted in the previous episode. Mabel also helped out by battling Muderev and later promising Seika that she won’t say anything about the event that occurred.
Do you remember the beginning of James Gunn’s Suicide Squad when almost all the criminals were brutally killed? Well, that’s what happened to the demons in this episode, in which Seika annihilates them like how every slasher antagonist slaughters their victims. While Seika beheads Muderev and kills Zor and Gull-Ganis with his fire magic and talisman, his demon servant White Snake uses its evil eye to stop Pyrslaria’s heart and eats Lo-Ni. The show may be average at best, but it also knows how to portray its disturbing deaths. However, it’s not enough to prevent this episode from being an underwhelming demonic showdown with little to no build-up, even with my low expectations set for the series.
Thankfully, the episode gives us something to look forward to for next week’s finale regarding Amu. The Dirac Knights of Marquis Grevil arrive at the academy to arrest the hero for murdering a demon emissary who was visiting the academy under diplomatic immunity. Did somebody set Amu up, or did she really perform this heinous crime? The answer will hopefully be revealed in the season one finale.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
