English Dub Review: Buddy Daddies “Lost at Sea”

Overview:

Miri’s mother decides that she wants to take Miri back.

Our Take:

The past few episodes have been doing a good job at building up to this point. Kazuki’s and Rei’s situation is no longer a secret and the organization wants to put a stop to it. That’s why Kyu gets a hold of Miri’s mother. Her life is going downhill and she wants to take the opportunity to have a second chance with Miri. Kazuki and Rei are reluctant to give Miri up, but they know it’s the right thing to do.

They spend one final day with Miri having fun and doing whatever she wants to do. Kazuki is feeling conflicted about sending Miri back with her mother and understandably so. After all, she told him to his face that she didn’t want anything to do with her daughter. On the other hand, it’s dangerous for the two assassins to keep Miri around.

Of course, Miri is oblivious to the whole situation. She’s happy to see here mom again and she wants to be with her. However, she also wants to be with Kazuki and Rei. As far as she knows, she can do both. Unfortunately, that’s not the way it’s going to work out.

I know this isn’t how this chapter is going to end, but Miri’s mom coming back is certainly unexpected. I wonder if her wishes are true or if she has ulterior motives for taking Miri back. I’m also curious to see what other involvement the organization may have in this. I feel like Kyu might not be telling Kazuki and Rei the full story.
