English Dub Review: Urusei Yatsura “Present for You;The Yellow Ribbon of Happiness”

Overview:

Ataru can run, but he can’t hide — not from Lum, and not from the gorgeous shrine maiden Sakura’s eagle eyes. She can tell at a glance that he’s in dire need of exorcism!

Our Take:

Okay in fairness to Lum she maybe annoying but she’s also an alien and has no idea about our customs. So, I can see why she does some of the things she does because she has no idea that it’s not something you should do. Like disrupting a whole class by just flirting with Ataru very, very loudly. Shinobu has no excuse because you can’t tell me that she got involved with Ataru not knowing how he was as a person. As for Ataru, dude I get it you love women but learn some self-control and you have to know time and place good buddy.

So with no redeemable characters as of yet it falls upon the story to pick up the slack. As of now it’s not really going anywhere either. It’s just antic and issue one after the other in a sort of sitcom fashion. But unfortunately it hasn’t been very funny but there’s still time. I mean it’s a classic for a reason right? Right?…
