English Dub Review: Handyman Saitou in Another World “What I Gained from the Battle”

Overview

There is a way to save the witch, Rahvella, from her curse, but will Kisurugi truly be willing to pay the price? And when the method of Saitou’s arrival in this world is discovered, will it change things between him and the others?

Our Take

After the chaos that was the “previous episode” it’s revealed that to save the witch, the ninja Kisurugi will sacrifice his life for hers, losing all but only his left leg and Primasse’s wings and magic to share the burden. But there is another addition to paying a certain price, but it’s for the best…

The conclusion of the matter with The Great Labyrinth and Raelza now having known that Morlock summoned Saitou to the fantasy world, confirms that at the very least, he did remember something akin along those lines. But also, the possibility of sending Saitou home exists, and Raelza isn’t happy that the one who kept the party together can be tasked to go back if it’s possible. Besides, since he wasn’t treasured back on Earth, the fantasy world is the only place where he truly belonged.

Overall, this episode was kinda interesting, and despite it now focusing on action or combat, but more of a character study of our main cast. It also really took advantage of its isekai tropes to the fullest. Along with concluding a story arc while transitioning carefully to another with the heart of the story being the possibility of Saitou returning to his own time but preferring to stay.
