TOEI ANIMATION CO Launches Second World From Metaverse Project “ONN’ON STUDIOS”
TOEI ANIMATION CO., LTD. opened a new world to enjoy the Otaku mood on VR Chat on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 3 p.m. (Japan time), the second part of the metaverse project “ONN’ON STUDIOS”. ONN’ON STUDIOS is a virtual space on VRChat consisting of multiple worlds that is powered by Toei Animation. It was launched for document archiving and user communication.
For its first project, it exhibited a scale model of Toei Doga Studio (1st building), which is the predecessor of the present-day Toei Animation, and launched the “ToeiDogaStudio1956” virtual world.
The new world “Nostalgia 1999” is a collaboration with Sony based on the concept of a six-tatami room in Japan in July 1999. A miscellaneous otaku room filled with Sony products and anime goods that time is reminiscent of a nostalgic space like a playground back in the day.
Toei is also planning to hold events such as anime screenings and studio tours with various IPs and will announce multi-content world as a special exhibition in the future.
