Review: Rick and Morty: Crisis on C-137 #4

Overview

A very brisk and easy-going tale of a conclusion featuring the whole Sanchez/Smith family going nuts on the villain rogue gallery that is Rick and Morty. Some survive, others live, and there’s a frig-ton of action sequences to boot.

Our Take

Of all the issues of Rick and Morty that dropped this fair day (three), this one is by far the most “Marvel/DC” one of the bunch. The issue moves fast, eschewing lots of dialogue for HUGE action pieces that are wildly entertaining featuring the best of the best of Rick and Morty’s villain catalog. Pretty much everyone is represented here from the show’s first few seasons on the air.

Stephanie Phillips definitely contrasts well with the other Rick and Morty writers who are sketching up Rick and Morty comics. For my money, of the bunch, she’s most understanding of the show’s overall tone and not trying to be too hacky with the dialogue. Ryan Lee and Gabriel Fischer more-or-less adapt the show pretty much on the spot here, no real complaints, the big pages aren’t overpowering and you’re able to keep up with what’s going on until everything comes to a nice silly landing.
