Our Take

Poor Anju. Due to circumstances beyond her control, she got everything taken away from her in terms of royal status. As for Haku, having to preserve this charade to visit Oshitor’s mother seemed too short to me, but I can understand this must be uncomfortable for him to keep this lie going.

Also, Mikazuchi immediately realizing it’s not Oshtor he’s up against was to be expected. Haku can only impersonate him on the surface but not replicate his strength.

Overall, we can see the proverbial mask cracking now. The episode’s recurring theme seems to push the narrative that honesty isn’t always the best solution, especially when the circumstances are forcing these characters to lie to either preserve their lives or to preserve someone else’s dream, and the more this lie begins to pile-up, the more consequences everyone suffers from in different ways. It remains to be seen what direction this will take at this point, but two things remain certain, It wasn’t boring and I’m interested in where it goes at least…
