English Dub Review: By the Grace of the Gods “Ryoma and the Poster Girl”
Overview
Ryoma arrives in the town of Lenaf, where he plans to open the second branch of his laundry shop. It’s here where he meets Pioro and Miyabi Saionji, the father-daughter duo of the local Saionji Trading Company…
Our Take
Ryoma has arrived at the town where his next shop will be opened. Lots of work to do in the meantime starting with meeting his connection in this town Pioro and Miyabi. The former being the usual eccentric businessman type and the latter his cute daughter. Pioro like any ambitious businessman is trying to move up in the world by naming his daughter after the business’s mascot in the hopes of bringing him good luck. This is juxtaposed to Miyabi being the more rational one who had some comedic moments here and there.
Ryoma was also astounded by how extensive the businesses and guilds operate within the town. It’s a nice economic structure which makes sense if someone from our world came up with it and even called it an “airport”. The dynamic between the three is surprisingly charming, and Ryoma tries not to be surprised by the dinner selection. Later, Pioro and Miyabi are surprised by the slime working, which shows a nice cultural shock on all sides. And after learning that there’s a monster worth hunting within that town, Its existence which was briefly mentioned by the very same “gods” who gave Ryoma his new life, has made Ryoma curious enough to investigate it…
Overall, you’d think that setting up a shop in the city would be much more of a hassle, but this went pretty smoothly all things considered. I guess things are easier when you have genuinely nice people helping you. Ryoma still has some work to do in terms of getting his 2nd shop up and running, but I’m already excited by the idea of him opening another shop in the Royal capital so he can be closer to Elia which feels like an even more ambitious goal for a later storyline if it takes that direction.
