Review: THE OWL HOUSE “For the Future”
Overview
Luz and her friends race against Belos to confront the Collector and save the Boiling Isles.
Our Take
We pick up where the previous episode left off with the 2nd of a three part hour-long episodes as Luz and her Crew attempt to right some wrongs. While this is going on, it introduces a child called “The Collector” who’s currently running the show while the remaining survivors have barricaded themselves to safety in what’s left of the school.
As a character, the Collector possesses god-like chaos powers equal to Majin Buu’s early years, or Bill Cipher from “Gravity Falls” in terms of trippy fucked-up manipulation magic. At least when the magic world isn’t becoming a ghost town. We see the aftermath of what happened, while Belos attempts to physically restore himself, but when we see who Belos encounters, it feels like it’s gearing up for one hell of a 3-way confrontation.
Overall, this was a great continuation that’s packed with so many decent story setups and unexpected payoffs. But with many of these storylines slowly converging near the end, we see character growth along with the fates of other characters told from multiple perspectives that allow audiences to put the pieces together in such a way, that I’m left hooked to see how it’ll all end and how all of this will play out in the series finale!

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
