English Dub Review: Bluelock “The Geniuses and the Average Joes”

Overview:

Isagi’s team has lost to Rin’s team, who has incredible skills and an overwhelming ego. Isagi and Nagi lose to Bachira, and they are sent back to the second stage of two-on-two games. Showing up before them is the team of Barou and Naruhaya. Losing means disqualification. With that pressure, Isagi and Nagi think hard about their individual strengths to win a one-on-one situation. The new match that decides their fate starts with no answer in sight.

Our Take:

What makes this stage of Bluelock so fascinating to me is that you get to choose someone from the team you defeat. Isagi being the way he is knows that no one would choose him but then you run into situations like with the team consisting of Barou and Naruhaya. Barou is clearly a superior player but he plays so selfishly and relies on no one else that of course no one would want him on their team.

Isagi is going to have to level up and fast if he wants to get Bachira back. Bachira and Isagi were a duo that I thought was going to last the whole series. But now I think Nagi is just as good of a replacement, I really liked him when he was first introduced. If there is one thing that Bluelock absolutely nails it’s the characters. You can feel how desperate they all are to win and Isagi needs to find a way to win one on one before he gets sent home next week.
