English Dub Review: To Your Eternity “Crime and Forgiveness”

Overview

Fushi attempts to escape from his iron cell, while Bon and Todo await their trial in their cells…

Our Take

This time around, Bon’s character ended up being more relevant than expected and it seems Fushi’s predicament resulted in some unexpected side effects. I kind of expected him to use it on those crocodiles but his plan was far better. Also, the Nokkers not attacking Fushi during the weeks that he was imprisoned is questionable tho…

Seeing Fushi trapped in a cycle of getting molten iron poured on him and regenerating was very hard to watch. It was great for his development though, and I’m sure he definitely has a stronger grasp of his abilities and is able to overcome obstacles now. But I feel awful for Bon too. Even though his character was pretty annoying, the nuances of growth he gained in this episode were easily a highlight. And given that I’ve seen Season One, it would be very unlike the series for Fushi to just swoop in and save him, so It’s easy to assume the worst.

This was exactly how I thought this arc would end. The Church of Bennett was an absolute joke to watch, and other than being dissatisfied with the idea of Fushi being a new messiah-like person, I don’t think they had any motives beyond that. Fushi’s powers did feel all too convenient, but it makes sense based on his previous powers, and he rescued Todo from captivity, but Bon decided to stay behind and do the unthinkable. Probably the least impactful of the deaths so far, but I did enjoy his character, he was quite entertaining to watch, minus the random shouting. At the very least, I’m eager to see the aftermath next episode and how beneficial this could be for Fushi later on.
