Our Take

For some strange reason, Crunchyroll has felt the need to double up on episodes during the course of the weekend for a number of their shows. And for that reason, we now have two storylines to contend with. For the first episode, Bon leads Fushi’s expedition to drive away Knockers and bring in more supporters, he’s really keen on making this work with the Immortal. Todo loving Bon, well that was news to the prince, that comes with demotion. Still, though, the love that Todo has is in the form of admiration, though Fushi can’t quite understand the term love in the romantic sense. Consequently, Bon really made Fushi look like the God-sent Jesus the miracle worker on heels, while the Knockers, anywhere that they may attack, be handled quickly and consistently. That said, Bon really feels like he needs the approval of everyone, and not long after on their adventures, they meet the first casualty…

As for the second episode, things proceed to go downhill really fast, after Fushi displays his newfound Jesus-like powers, and the news spreading about them has to be calmed down, and that’s just the icing on top for the Church of Bennett heretics to capture both him and Bon, accused of heresy. Putting the Church of Bennett on a pedestal and using the Elder Hanui as a plot device for Fushi to act his miracles, Fushi just needs to prove that he’s no miracle, and therein lies mayhem that still results in both of their captures. While Fushi finds a way out, Bon reflects upon what has happened, and even Fushi begins to have second thoughts about saving people, and the Beholder questions his very motives…

Overall, this really knew how to leave you hooked but on a very ugly note… It was only a matter of time before Fushi’s immortality would be used against them, and I have no idea what direction the story will take next, but if anything it kinda highlights the worst of humanity when people are faced with something beyond human understanding that isn’t considered natural or “normal” to them. I can only imagine how torturous that’s gotta be for Fushi, and that cliffhanger leads me to believe some shits gonna go down in the next episode…
