English Dub Review: Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer “Maimakterion and the Beast Knights; Anima and Animus”
Overview
“Maimakterion and the Beast Knights”
While Samidare and Yuuhi are absent, Maimaketerion challenges the Beast Knights and wins, only to declare that it will appear again in ten days and go after their families if they don’t provide a better fight then.
“Anima and Animus”
Anima and Animus were the sole survivors of a space shuttle accident in the distant future, but their secret leads to the battle over Earth’s destruction, and after many years Anima finally meets the young Yuuhi and Samidare.
Our Take
In the first episode, Maimakterion is on another level compared to other monsters they’ve fought. All previous golems were just mindless killing machines. This one with the shape-shifting and his time with the Taiyo family changed Maimakterion. It started to look inward and self-examine, showing how far the golem has come. To have that level of critical thinking is impressive. Maimakterion wasn’t even the strongest or last one either. So I wonder how upper-tier the 12th/final golem will be…
The second episode mostly works as a nice backstory for both Anima and Animus. To show how they got here in this current battle. Especially for the lore and story between Anima and Animus. Their actions in the past influenced the consequences in the future including the knights. It sort of gives off Trigun vibes in the sense that one sibling is a madman who would rather fuck up everything and the other is out to stop them. I also liked the portion of this episode showing a young Samidare and a young Yuuhi meeting. They were so cute as kids and it bonds them together even more. The Knights have been training all winter getting ready for this last golem, time for the final battle.
It was nice seeing Yayoi ask Yuuhi about her preview confession. The snake gave Yayoi the push to finally ask him if he heard her or not. Obviously, he did but Yayoi feels conflicted since she knows Samidare and Yuuhi wants to destroy the world themselves after defeating Animus. On the subject, Samidare’s meeting with Animus was in all cases, an unexpected one, for a girl that is recouping from her illness in the hospital. And most certainly, the coincidence with Amamiya is also just a matter of time and protecting her from Anima as a kid, it’s just normal for children, especially for Yuuhi wanting to grow up and become a detective. At this point, everything’s a dream for Amamiya, and Animus’s desire to protect Earth grows stronger as time passes, and feels like we’re even closer to a big finale…
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
