English Dub Review: Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer “Amamiya Yuuhi and Shinonome Hangetsu”

Shimaki struggles to create his next golem, and Yuuhi must face Anima’s trial after dealing with the death of his grandfather…

Our Take

Upon receiving a call back from home, and Yuuhi’s grandfather died due to a traffic accident, a culmination of bad luck. But Yuuhi has learned to take things one at a time, forgiving his grandfather for all the trouble he’s given to him. His dream sequence though was an awakening through Anima to face and overcome his fears on the stairway to Heaven, starting with Shinonome. In the Holding Field that Yuuhi’s manifested, he’s grown a lot. And seeking relevance through Akitani, Anima, and Samidare herself, is within reach of the titular Biscuit Hammer.

Shimaki wants some references to his golem-making and seems that he got some good input from the others. But Animus’s sudden appearance with Taiyou and Maimakterion forces him to rethink his efforts and surpass his limits to draw out a new golem: Sonnabend. Though Hakudou’s power has also grown significantly, thank God that this wasn’t used against the 11th Eye.

Overall, while it was sad that Yuuhi’s grandfather died, it helped serve as an emotional test for his character. Narratively, of course. lol Feels like he needed to overcome this to be a stronger person for this arc/series. Yuuhi has come a long way since the first episode…
