English Dub Review: Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? “Endless|Brutal”

Overview:

The Juggernaut slaughters its way through a dwindling number of survivors, forcing Ryu to face her demons.

Our Take:

That was brutal but I felt confident that Marie the mermaid would have a part to play. Once Bell got knocked close to the water I was pretty sure that would be the case and apparently mermaid blood can heal some serious wounds, who knew? Though I wanted to see Bell deal with the adversity of losing an arm. Might have led to good character growth.

I was prepared to give this episode a very unflattering review because it ends on a huge cliffhanger and is also the last episode. But I did some digging and this is only the first part of this season apparently. I wasn’t expecting that because the best of my knowledge this series has only gotten one cour seasons up until now if you don’t count the OVAs.

This has still been the most brutal season by far, with so many cut-off limbs and bisected bodies. It seemed like we were getting that slo-mo body slashed in half trope in all of the last three episodes. But I imagine this show had to take its dark turn at some point right?

With more episodes on the horizon, it makes me see this one in a different light. Knowing I don’t have to wait THAT long for a conclusion makes it sting a lot less. Plus it makes me excited that one of my favorite anime has earned a second cour season finally.
