English Dub Review: Cardfight!! Vanguard Will+dress “Symphony”

Overview:

The finals have begun, and Urara is filled with anxiety over her upcoming match with Yu-yu.

Our Take:

I don’t know why it only seems like they do the battles with the characters involved every once in a while when it should be the show’s main selling point. When the entire battle was animated like that a few episodes ago it was so awesome. This episode did it for a little bit of the time and was definitely the high point of the episode. It seemed like the animation even stepped up a notch or two, it was very impressive. But then it went back to just two characters yelling card game lingo I don’t understand at each other.

Urara should have won but I don’t think she’s even the main character even if she should be. This series is one of the more difficult ones to learn anything about. It’s just an odd series and hard to follow with so many different series and characters. It’s not the worst anime I have watched by a long shot but it is the most frustrating one for sure. If it really leaned into its strengths it could be really good.
