English Dub Review: Rent-a-Girlfriend “Girlfriend and Me”
Overview:
Chizuru reflects on her journey to get her here, and Kazuya acts on his idea to help her.
Our Take:
You might notice this will be one of my highest-scored episodes and guess what? It had next to no Kazuya, one of the most significant upsides you can give this show. Though I will say we are going into one of the few arcs where Kazuya is actually a likable character and probably the best arc in the whole series. Too bad that is where this season ended, but since a third season has already been confirmed, it will have a strong start when we get there.
Most of this episode was just backstory for Chizuru. Why she is pursuing acting so hard and what drives her. We knew about how close she has always been with her grandma but we finally got a glimpse into her past life and time with her grandfather. He always believed in her dream and knew she could make it as an actress. But of course, he had to have a surprise visit from Truck-kun. Maybe grandpa got isekai’d into another world? This was it for season two so you can look forward to my season review next week. Spoiler alert, it won’t be good.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
