English Dub Review: My Isekai Life: I Gained a Second Character Class and Became the Strongest Sage in the World! “We Got Some Monster Armor”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
If Yuji wants quality armor, he’ll need quality materials, and that means hunting a rare monster.
Our Take:
Every RPG player knows that making armor requires many materials to craft. However, that means defeating plenty of monsters to retrieve them. But not just any type of monster. Instead, they must destroy a specific type to get the rarest ones. This week’s episode has Yuji tackling this new side-quest if he wants to purchase some armor for his slimy companions and his pet wolf. The perks of being both a tamer and a sage never cease to amaze me.
The episode showcases Yuji’s traverse to gain enough materials for Geigel to craft the perfect armor. In this case, Geigel needs a unique jewel from a Blue Lesser Fire Dragon, the rarest of the Lesser Fire dragons living inside a volcano. However, Yuji would have to cool his body with water to defeat them. Unfortunately, the closest river is guarded by a monster piranha. Luckily, he has the fire slimes he tamed to take care of that huge problem.
Yuji’s cool body turns out to be quite effective, as he’s able to defeat a ton of dragons and collect their jewels. Additionally, he managed to gain other quest rewards for his kills, including the giant piranha. Then, Yuji spends his jewels on the armor, which increases the slimes and Proudwolf’s speed, but it seems they won’t be enough to shield them from Yuji’s robust spell transfers. So Yuji has to find a stronger jewel from a true Flame Dragon residing in the volcano’s lava. Unfortunately, the tamer won’t have to wait too long for it to resurface.
The series has been doing well in not relying heavily on Yuji’s incredible skills to solve every problem he encounters. Even if it doesn’t raise the intensity to eleven, it often makes the scenarios less dull than it is. Usually, Yuji would just walk by and kill the dragons with one swoop. However, since magic is ineffective against the Lesser Fire Dragons, he would have to use only water cannon magic to defeat them, except the blue one, which can be defeated with ice magic.
Speaking of which, the blue dragon shown doesn’t appear to be as blue as I thought it would be. Instead, it looks like the dragon and the jewel have a shade of purple. This could be an error that the animators forgot to check or a lighting issue. Whatever it is, it’s irritating that a blue monster doesn’t look blue at all.
Aside from that, “We Got Some Monster Armor” is another watchable episode that concludes with an upcoming showdown between Yuji and an unstoppable force. In this case, it’s the Flame Dragon resembling Godzilla and the remaining Lesser Dragons that have gone berserk due to the cult’s spell. Fortunately, Yuji and his team have the proper armor to give themselves the boost needed to combat this threat. Additionally, they got the red slimes joining the fun, meaning I have to endure more of the slimes’ constant liveliness in the remaining episodes.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
