English Dub Review: Cardfight!! Vanguard will+Dress “Skyfall Knight”

Overview:

The victors emerge from their matches one by one until it is time for Raika and Yu-yu’s duel. Who will come out on top?

Our Take:

It seems like anime like this always have those two characters that are opposites of each other. In this, it just so happens to be Yu-yu and Raika. Yu-yu is just happy to be playing in a tournament but also wants to take it seriously. Whereas Raika is like an edgelord with how serious he takes Cardfight, he doesn’t even seem like he’s having fun. So, something tells me that we will get to a point eventually where he learns to have more fun. But there must be something special about Yu-yu because a fellow player, Michiru, notices something in him.

The voice acting isn’t bad in this but it is kind of weird to not hear anyone I recognize from bigger dubs. Maybe I don’t know this business as well as I think I do and shows like this are what some of my favorites cut their teeth on before making it big. One that I like is the voice actress that plays Urara. Her name is Karin Kagami and it seems that she is also the Japanese voice actress for the character. I am not sure how often that happens but she really brings out the cuteness of Urara.
