It’s been pretty commonplace for the last several years for cable nets and streamers to post premiere episodes of new series on Youtube. Adult Swim has done it, AMC, and Comedy Central will often do just that to help increase the buzz.

You may recall our report last week on the diminishing numbers of Rick and Morty’s season premieres, Adult Swim clearly read it in an unhappy manner and quickly put together another press release, this one touting the L+3 (live plus three days) numbers of the show’s season premiere episode entitled “Solaricks” of over one million viewers on television, with additional viewership coming from HBO MAX , and now this limited time offering of the premiere episode being made available on Youtube.

The release also notes the success of the #Wormageddeon promotion bringing 100,000 visitors to the different locales, however, a quick gander of the comments of the hashtag and on Youtube for all of the videos posted will tell you two things: 1) Commenters quickly noted the aesthetic similarities in the different trophy earners and 2) most agreed that the “living episode” would have made a far funner animated episode.

Synopsis:

Rick and Morty is the Emmy® award-award-winning half-hour animated hit comedy series on Adult Swim that follows a sociopathic genius scientist who drags his inherently timid grandson on insanely dangerous adventures across the universe. Rick Sanchez is living with his daughter Beth’s family and constantly bringing her, his son-in-law Jerry, granddaughter Summer, and grandson Morty into intergalactic escapades.

It’s season six and Rick and Morty are back! Pick up where we left them, worse for wear and down on their luck. Will they manage to bounce back for more adventures? Or will they get swept up in an ocean of piss! Who knows?! Piss! Family! Intrigue! A bunch of dinosaurs! More piss! Another can’t miss season of your favorite show.

Rick and Morty stars Justin Roiland (Solar Opposites), Sarah Chalke (Scrubs), Chris Parnell (Saturday Night Live), and Spencer Grammer (Greek). The series is created by Dan Harmon (Community) and Roiland, who also serve as executive producers.
