Review: Mike Judge’s Beavis and Butt-Head “Virtual Stupidity/Locked Out”

Overview (Spoilers Below)

Virtual Stupidity

Beavis and Butt-Head steal sunglasses and mistake them for VR goggles and walk around the mall thinking it’s a video game. Attempts at car-jacking and even suicide restarts goes awry. The two wake up in a hospital and beat the shit of a visitor.

Locked Out

The idiots lock themselves out of the house. They try both doors and a window, but they can’t seem to get in the house so they enlist the services of Tom Anderson and his brand-new truck for help which works like a charm.

Our Take

Beavis and Butt-Head return with another dual romper of a week. I gotta say, when I saw we were going to do a Beavis and Butt-Head VR bit, I was kinda hoping for a legit VR bit with avatars and everything ala South Park’s WOW episode, but that doesn’t take away the comedic elements that were presented.

By far the funnier of the two episodes was “Locked Out”, mainly because any episode with Tom Anderson in it slowly pushes the episode back into classic territory because Judge is so friggin’ good in the role and because Tom is the true Darth Vader in this franchise. Not unlike Beavis and Butt-Head: Do America, Anderson meets the wrong-side of the legal system and it makes for one of the funniest climaxes of the season thus far. Great stuff.
