English Dub Review: SING “YESTERDAY” FOR ME: “The Woman Named Yuzuhara”
Overview: Uozumi’s (Aaron Campbell) old flame, Yuzuhara, returns when she needs a place to crash, relying on him and causing quite the storm in regards to the two special ladies in his life, Morinome (Michelle Rojas) and Haru (Jill Harris).
Our Take: Similar to how Minato’s self contained entry fleshed out Haru’s life and personality, Uozumi gets the same treatment in his ex-girlfriend coming to town, the woman named Yuzuhara.
One of the most spectacular elements is how, just like Minato, Yuzuhara is amazingly developed within a one episode arc. Her presence naturally stir up some strife and jealousy for Haru and Morinome, but thankfully she is never meant to be a mainstay that now has to be stuffed within the main narrative, adding to Uozumi’s growing list of love interests. No, aside from causing drama within his love triangle, she is brilliantly used to illustrate how Uozumi’s two main admirers feel about him as well as his own swirling emotions too. With Haru, it is business as usual in her being plainly jealous and immature in how she handles it adorably. As far as Morinome, it touches on her lingering feelings with her anger and questioning why that is.
With a reputation of being a loose heartbreaker in high school, running away from her parent’s expectations, it subverts that by delving into Yuzuhara’s alienation from people in how she never attached herself to someone on an emotional level, always moving from person to person simply on the basis of being liked by them. With Uozumi bringing it to the forefront, it goes a step beyond in developing her sweet silver lining and one true love in playing the piano, making for an endearing ending and showing how she is a true rebel.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
