English Dub Review: Lupin III Part VI “Fakes Attract Lies Part 2”
Overview
After Zenigata gets jailed for a crime he didn’t commit; his juniors jump into action, but interference in their pursuit of the truth comes from a most unlikely source…
Our Take
A lot of twists and turns within this two-part episode. Though it was more detective-focused than anything associated with Lupin or his crew. Pretty much the heart of this episode was showing that the female detective who was determined to clear Zenigata’s name just so happened to also be a former student of Tomoe and that Mattea also has something to do with Tomoe and this whole situation by reacting to Tomoe’s name and attacking Ari, neither of which is that shocking, as they were both suspicious from the beginning.
Since her introduction in previous episodes, Mattea seemed harmless at first, but it did look like there was something off with her, so perhaps it’s more complicated than what we may assume that she was “evil” from the very start. But seeing Lupin bonding with these different women without it being romantic is a nice change of pace, & the overarching mystery is cool.
Overall, while I wasn’t into the implied romance between the two side detectives, It felt like the whole Zenigata getting arrested didn’t lead to as much drama as it should have. It was resolved quickly and without any crazy antics. At the very least, the Twist ending knew how to leave me hooked even if we don’t know the big picture at this point…
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
