English Dub Review: Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer “Amamiya Yuuhi and the Beast Knights (Part 2)”

Overview

With the surviving ten Beast Knights now united, Yuuhi learns of Nagumo’s past as a detective while Shimaki converses with Animus in his dreams.

Our Take

This time around, we’re finally getting to know some more about some of the beast knights, with some bad guy info sprinkled in. Rather than Yuuhi and Samidare. Yayoi, Nagumo, and Shimaki all get considerable screen time to show more of their characters.

At the same time this is going on, the sinister and newly introduced villain Animus is reaching out to Shimaki. This leaves we the audience to wonder what Yuki and Subaru meant by “we are human” though. Shimaki wanted all knowledge to make the world a happy place and comes across as pretty damn charming I’m surprised there are no death flags around this guy at this point given how likable he is. (Sometimes it’s a red flag as it wants you to care about certain characters.)

Overall, between this episode and the previous one, there has been an upswing regarding the animation. It’s still pretty simple, but nowhere near as bad as it was initially. Then again, it’s hard to tell if I’m just more used to it all by now. But, I still get the impression some scenes are looking better than others. With the way things have escalated, it remains to be seen what’ll happen next at this point…
