English Dub Review: Don’t Hurt Me, My Healer! “This show is fairly unique in that Carla is the only recurring female character…”
Overview:
The party encounters a zombie and they accept his request to get revenge on a necromancer.
Our Take:
Alvin, Carla, and Altargaia comes across a zombie. Alvin’s looking to fight weak monsters and Carla’s all for it, but not when she sees him struggle. Everyone cheers for him to stand up, Alvin shows his respect, and he falls down.
They bury the zombie, Carla revives him, and he asks Alvin and Carla to get revenge on a necromancer. The other zombies are fans of her and forgot about him. That’s the whole story. Maria Deathflame, the necromancer, is actually a nice person. It’s just petty nonsense.
Alvin and Carla go to find her, get mixed up with the zombies, and Carla throws Alvin in jail. Maria struggles trying to free Alvin, so Carla helps her. Maria compliments Carla and Alvin shoots that down, which causes them to abandon him.
It seems like every time this episode is about to get better, it gets much worse. There are some funny moments sure, but everything else sucks.
The zombies are lame. I’m really sick of this show dragging on its unfunny jokes. The one zombie struggles to get up for about two minutes. It’s such a waste of time. Maria’s not much better. She’s nice, but hopeless and one-dimensional.
Also, I hate the trope of the character who does nothing wrong getting punished while the one who does everything wrong gets praised. Alvin is harmless, but Carla always messes things up or is rude to others. Of course, Alvin always becomes the butt of the joke and Carla gets heralded as a great person. This trope doesn’t work for any show and this is no exception.
I had a feeling that since the last episode was decent, this one would be bad. For every one thing this show does right, it does five wrong. It’s unfortunate, but that’s just the nature of this show.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
