Exclusive Report: DailyWire+ Producers “Pushing” For Adult Animation
Paid for kids content really doesn’t work on SVOD’s. Here’s why, in order to be a subscriber to any SVOD, you need to have some place in which that service can take money, i.e., a bank, credit card, etc. As a result, you need to be 18+ here in America to get any of those things in your name. Netflix made major waves when they started cancelling a number of TV-Y7 content, same went for HBO MAX in their recent wave of cancellations. Hell, even Disney+ largely doesn’t order kids content it doesn’t already show on Disney Jr., and really channels like Disney Jr. and Nick Jr. are throw-ins from media conglomerates to cable TV companies who want to make sure with whatever non-profitable kids content comes it’s way, there’s still WAY more adult-skewing content because, at the end of the day, adults pay the bills.
Enter DailyWire+, a fairly new streaming service with just under 900k subscribers that will learn the hard truth of producing TV-G content for kids who don’t actually pay for their service. Fortunately, producers internally, are attempting to change the tide, and from what I can exclusively report by way of highly-placed sources, adult animation is definitely being pushed for.
DailyWire+ reported revenues of over $100 million by the end of the year and the streamer says it plans to double down and spend the same on kids content over a three year period with an animated pre-school series on the way. The goal, to produce content geared towards a more conservative audience that may feel left out by the likes of Disney+ (it’s worth noting that execs at both Netflix and Paramount+ have vowed to produce content that’s more central-focused, not leaning too much in either way in terms of the political spectrum).
In terms of what is on the adult animation slate on the moment, we’re still working on that for a follow-up story, but when we hear about any development coming by way of the Nashville-based streamer, we will let you know.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
