English Dub Review: Overlord: “Baharuth Empire”
Overview
The major powers in other countries grow increasingly wary about the Sorcerer Kingdom. Especially the emperor of the Barahuth Empire, who might go bald from the stress induced by the overwhelming power of Ains Ooal Gown. On which side will he stand?
Our Take
This time around we have another “exposition dump” of sorts with how the Temple within the Slane Theocracy should take action against Ainz, and how every action is taken only backfires, as such with the degradation of the Re-Estize Kingdom to ultimately fall under Ainz’s rule. Yet, after all this while, they forget that the Sorcerer King and Momon are the same people, much less prominent figures slowly falling one by one.
The Bararuth Empire with Emperor Jircniv (In terms of appearance and theme both look and feel very Roman Empire-Inspired) lambasting at how every one of his plans to take down Ainz has been nothing but failures, any future plans going forward will have to be treated with strict scrutiny, much less his desperation to finally get rid of Ainz and his tyrannical rule. Also, the “Silver Thread Bird” guild of adventurers serving as Jircniv’s protection after all but his loyal aides (e.g. Fluder) have defected to the Sorcerer Kingdom, he needs every necessity to protect his well-being…except that an unexpected guest shows up at Jircniv’s colosseum to participate in a match against his champion and the look on Jircniv’s face is priceless!
Overall, this episode highlights one of my favorite aspects of Overlord, seeing how the different leaders, kingdoms, and parties are either affected or influenced in having to deal with an all-powerful being such as Ainz and his followers. I feel sorta bad for Jircniv at the end. The dude is practically crying and hoping for the warrior king to put up a good fight. I also liked the episode’s beginning covering events leading up to Albedo leaving Nazarick on business and how she hasn’t changed much as a giddy fangirl to Ainz while giving a few decent callbacks to Season One’s events.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
