English Dub Review: Shadows House “The Best Star Bearer”

Overview:

Barbara strives to fulfill her role as a Star Bearer in spite of Barbie’s concerns about her health. Troubled by the disturbances which keep occurring in the children’s wing, Barbara wonders if things would have been different under the previous leader. Meanwhile, in John’s room, John reads a letter from Kate. Something in it sends him into a state of shock.

Our Take:

One thing I was looking forward to most with a second season was seeing how John and Kate’s relationship might blossom. For John’s sake, I hope she isn’t just using him but more testing him to see if she can trust him to be her wife. To be fair though, her plan was not only brilliant but hilarious, writing a letter in ink that only soot would reveal? So smart, and if you know anything about me you know I love smart protagonists.

As for the attention of the episode, Barbara, I really felt bad for her. Which was weird because Barbie can be kind of an ass. Granted I know they’re technically different but they’re linked in a way right? Though I got to say I do like how even though these two people are linked and stuff they are still their own and different person. Can’t wait to see what happens next, the mystery behind everything is so intriguing. Why haven’t more people noticed the brainwashing issue with the coffee?
