English Dub Review: A Couple of Cuckoos “No Such Thing as a Meaningless Kiss”

Overview:

Nagi and Hiro prepare for their wedding.

Our Take(Spoilers):

Before you get excited that we might be getting some romantic progress, I want to let you know that the wedding is fake. The shrine wants to show off that they are a great wedding venue, so they thought they would send out a fake wedding photoshoot to show off the shrine’s good points. I think that Nagi would like it to be real; he even sent out fake invites to all his friends. They needed people in the background for the photoshoot as well. Unfortunately, everyone read the part of the invite that said it was fake except for Sachi. So she interrupted the fake wedding to stop Hiro from “stealing” her brother.

The best part of the episode was that we got to meet Hiro’s dad. He’s a giant man who loves sumo, but you can tell he’s an emotional guy. It’s an often-used trope, but I love it. He seems like a scary grizzly bear, but when you get to know him, he’s a cuddly bear. He lets his wife walk all over him, and their marriage was arranged, but you can tell there is a lot of love there. Since their marriage was arranged, they want Hiro to experience the same thing.
