English Dub Review: Love After World Domination “My Big Sister Has Changed”
Overview:
Desumi’s father and sister interrupt her time with Fudou. They meet him while he’s in disguise and they’re taken aback by Desumi’s recent change of attitude. Desumi’s younger sister, Urami, struggles with her feelings towards her sister.
Our Take:
The last episode left off with Desumi’s father and sister stopping by for a visit. This episode picks up there and they’re not happy with the choices Desumi has been making. Unsurprisingly, Desumi doesn’t really stand up for herself and just goes with what her father says.
Fudou, who’s in disguise and going under the alias of “Mudou,” sticks up for Desumi. Her sister, Urami, hates him for it. Her father, however, quickly earns respect for him.
The following day, Desumi hangs out with Urami. She takes her to Gekko’s headquarters and all around town. Desumi is just having fun, but Urami loses respect for her. She thinks Desumi is weak now and that’s a huge contrast to the strong sister that stood up for her when they were younger.
This feeling doesn’t last long as Desumi comes to her sister’s aid when three guys are bothering her. This display shows Urami that Desumi is stronger than ever. Desumi tells her sister that love is the only way to live, but Urami isn’t interested. Also, she still hates Fudou. What a shock.
I don’t know why part of me was expecting Fudou to meet Desumi’s family as himself. I should have known that something like this would happen. While Fudou’s in disguise, he still acts like himself. He also still does whatever he can for the love of his life. Desumi’s father showing respect for him was something I wasn’t expecting and it was a pleasant surprise.
Something I was expecting was Urami’s attitude towards Fudou. I’m not a fan of the brother or sister complex that’s used in countless anime. It’s overused and I find it to be very annoying. Some comedic moments come out of it here, but I still think the episode could have done without it.
That being said, the episode does a great job at showing how much of an inspiration Desumi is to her sister. I liked seeing that and I do like the relationship between the the two sisters. This episode managed to take a trope I don’t like and utilize it in a way where I can mostly enjoy the younger sibling. It’s not perfect, but it’s another strong episode and a nice family moment.

"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
