English Dub Review: Ascendance of a Bookworm “Spring Prayer”
Overview
Main and the others get ready to head off to the Spring Prayer when they meet a blue-robed priest named Sylvester. Main doesn’t know how to deal with Sylvester who seems to do whatever he wants. She tries to avoid Sylvester as they go around to various farming villages and she does an amazing job doing all of the rituals. Eventually, they end up at Viscount Gerlach’s mansion. Apparently, he had shown interest in Main before. But that night, something terrible happens!
Our Take
Damn! This story is getting more interesting now with Main putting that mana to good use! More crazy nobles trying to take her out, even while on this trip for the spring prayer. This trip has been mostly successful though, going to the different estates to give the farmer mana that way the crops grow well. It’s a nice sentiment and with how important prayer is for mana in this world it makes sense in the story.
It must’ve been hard on the Main traveling so much giving her mana out. The new blue robbed priest introduced named Sylvester seems like an interesting guy. He’s very eccentric about teasing Main as often as possible. Even trying to get a trade for her chefs that will be in the future restaurant. Sylvester even threw her across the sky at Ferdinand. But he does seem to have some good intentions.
Overall, this episode showed off the cool magic which we haven’t had in a while. Ferdinand with his quick thinking directed Main’s rage into something protective and also shows how quick-witted and just plain smart he is. Those bastard Nobels went too far for our Main, I didn’t expect that. We also got some good action. Hopefully, there will be more to come!

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
