Trioscope Wants To “Takeover” In New Animated Film With Quavo Starring
Trioscope (The Liberator) announced it has greenlit a new feature-length action thriller, Takeover, in partnership with Quality Films (Ice Cold, How High 2), the expanded film unit of premier music management and hip-hop mega-label Quality Control, and Atlanta-based film financing group Georgia Production Finance. Starring multi-hyphenate actor and entertainer, Quavo (Atlanta, Black-ish, Wash Me in the River), the film is written by acclaimed and world-renowned action screenwriter Jeb Stuart (Die Hard, The Fugitive, The Vikings) a longtime Trioscope collaborator who wrote the World War II animated drama The Liberator (Netflix), and Brad Easton (Marvel’s Agent Carter). Takeover will be directed by Trioscope Chief Creative Officer Greg Jonkajtys, who directed The Liberator.
Takeover is the first among a robust slate of co-produced scripted projects that taps into QC’s massive roster of artists, using Trioscope’s proprietary, imaginative style of animation. Set and filmed in Atlanta, a hotbed of the street takeover car culture, Takeover will underscore the fascination and controversy surrounding “sideshows,” which Trioscope will bring to stunning life by fusing live-action performances with animation.
Atlanta native Quavo will play Guy Miller, a recent parolee who’s attempting to rehabilitate his life, when circumstances propel him back into Atlanta’s thriving and dangerous takeover scene. He must live up to his reputation as one of the slipperiest street operators in a lethal, head-long race against time.
The film – which will soon offer innovative ways for fans to participate – will be produced by L.C. Crowley, Brandon Barr and Greg Jonkajtys for Trioscope Studios; Kevin “Coach K” Lee, Pierre “P” Thomas and Brian Sher for Quality Films; Jeb Stuart for Real Folk Productions; Don Mandrik; Quavo for Huncho Films alongside Jen McDaniels.
Mandrik, Managing Director of Georgia Production Finance, leads the capitalization of the film, alongside leading automotive tech entrepreneur, Take It To The Track USA’s Brian Consaul. The two assembled the financing from within Atlanta’s robust exotic and racing car community and via partnerships with leading automotive brands.
The news follows a highly successful year for Trioscope, which has seen rapid growth with a recent $5.25 million investment from BITKRAFT, Sony and more to further pioneer a genre of animated content for global audiences. Recently, the company expanded its management team, having tapped seasoned animation expert John Evershed as Chief Strategy Officer, as well as former Roblox executive Keith Lucas as key adviser. In addition to the premiere of The Liberator on Netflix, which reached #3 worldwide for the platform, the company finished production on the short film Night of the Cooters, produced by George R. R. Martin and starring Vincent D’Onofrio, who also directs. Trioscope also has partnered with Dark Horse Comics, Oni Press, Netflix and A&E Studios for unannounced projects.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
