English Dub Review: Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon “A Place (Not) for Towa”

Overview:

Zero unearths Towa’s sadness and loneliness. Sesshomaru appears before the demon slayers and commands Setsuna to pay the Tree of Ages a visit.

Our Take:

Have you ever seen someone smoke someone’s sadness? No? Well if you watch this episode of Yashahime you will. Let me tell you it was one of the weirdest things I’ve seen. This show is usually pretty good but this episode was mostly missing with me. Maybe it’s because we spent most of the episode with Towa and I just don’t really like her. I knew that we would get more time with her and I was hoping it would make her more likable but it looks like I was wrong.

I think the main issue with this episode for me was how cringey some of the lines were. Don’t get me wrong I have seen my fair share of shounen anime and that comes with some cheesy speeches. But few have made me actually cringe like some in this episode. At first, I thought it might have been Erica Mendez’s delivery or something but even Kira Buckland’s Setsuna had some bad lines. Hopefully, this is just a bump in the road because Yashahime has been pretty consistent with delivering good episodes.
