English Dub Review: Rumble Garanndoll “Look at That! Turning the Tables (of Treachery)!”
Overview
Akatsuki believes he has seen the true face of Arahabaki and finally decides to end things once and for all. Arahabaki must decide their plan of action before the True Army launches their attack. However, Kudo Hosomichi continues to hold doubts.
Our Take
Confirmed in the foreshadowed flashbacks of past episodes, Balzac was the previous Garanndoll pilot and Mimi was his battery girl. As both fell in love with one another, both feel responsible for the explosion that created the lake. It also doesn’t help that my predictions about that Debt collector were right as the drunken Munakata fucked things up big time for Arahabaki such as ruining their public image, exposing Kudo’s identity, and threatening Akatsuki on Kudo’s behalf.
Made even worse, is that Kudo is being both the idealist and pessimist that the results speak for themselves, no matter how dedicated the Battery Girls and Balzac are to push back the True Army. Hosomichi is their key, despite the shitty past, he has with his father whose bad decisions left an insurmountable debt behind. It’s the reason why he’s wary of being influenced by the Otaku fandom yet again not to repeat what happened.
Now knowing Kudo’s backstory recontextualizes his apprehension on why he’s so Jaded with him not really having a preference to otaku culture but just hate for his bad father. I’m also honestly tired of Kudo just blindly doing whatever the shitty & problematic debt collector tells him to. He should’ve told the guy off back when they first joined Arahabaki. With 2 episodes left, I don’t know how they could possibly end this on a positive note as the post-credits scene was quite an eye-opener…
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
